We Asked AI For The Best Lawyer In Miami. Here's Who It Named.
TL;DR Ask AI for the best lawyer in Miami and the answer splits. In business and real estate, three firms like Greenberg Traurig and Akerman own more than half. In family and criminal work, the field is wide open, with more than 100 firms named. We ran thousands of Miami queries through four AI tools to map it.
A Miami business owner needs a real estate lawyer. They ask Perplexity. Three names come back, and two of them are the same two names that come back for almost every business question in the city.
Then a parent across town asks the same tool for a family lawyer. This time the answer is all over the place.
Same city. Same tool. Two completely different shapes. We mapped both.
Ranking Versus Recommending
Google ranked pages and let the searcher choose. The AI tools recommend. They pick three names and hand them over, and there’s no second page to scroll for the firm that came in eleventh.
In Miami, whether that helps you or hurts you depends a lot on what kind of law you practice.
What AI Says About Miami Lawyers
We read 2,221 clean Miami answers across 25 practice areas.
At the corporate end, a few firms own the room. In Miami business law, three firms took 56% of every answer: Holland & Knight, Greenberg Traurig, and Shutts & Bowen.
Real estate was almost as tight, led by Akerman, Greenberg Traurig, and Bilzin Sumberg. Break into that top three and you’re most of the answer. Miss it and you’re invisible.
The consumer side looks nothing like that. In Miami family law, the tools named 112 different firms, with the leaders, Leinoff & Lemos and Rafool, pulling only about 11% each.
Criminal defense was just as wide, 85 firms deep.
In immigration, Revilla Law Firm, Kurzban Kurzban Tetzeli & Pratt, and Pozo Goldstein led a crowded pack.
That split is the Miami story. Where the field is crowded, a smaller firm with the right signals has a real shot at the short list. Where three names already own it, breaking in takes more.
Two patterns held citywide. ChatGPT and Perplexity overlapped only about 6% on the firms they named, and Gemini named a firm in just 4% of its answers.
When Perplexity did cite sources, 90% of its Miami answers leaned on a directory, with Super Lawyers (14.4%) and Justia (12%) on top.
Being Named Isn't Being The Best
This counts mentions, not verdicts. A firm with strong directory profiles will out-appear a better one the machines can’t see. If a weaker Miami competitor keeps coming up and you don’t, that’s recognition, and recognition is the part you can change.
How To Show Up In Miami's AI Results
First, find your shape. Run the four tools for your practice area in Miami and see whether your field is locked at the top or wide open. Either way, get onto the sources the answers cite, Super Lawyers and Justia first, and keep your firm’s name and details consistent everywhere.
In the crowded practice areas, that work alone can put you on the list. Then check all four tools, since each one names a different set.
The Question That Matters
Tonight someone in Miami will ask AI to name a lawyer. A few names, fast, no page two.
