4 Reasons Straight From Google

This is Your Marketing Minute from Forward Push, and today I wanted to talk to you about your website and its rankings in Google. You know, if you get a report from the person that’s handling your website, you probably have noticed that there’s fluctuation.
Things go up and things go down.
And a lot of it has nothing to do with what you can do. It actually is just things happen in Google.
And recently somebody asked John Mueller, he’s at Google and kind of runs the whole show over there when it comes to search about why does this happen? This person had a successful website over seven years and then all of a sudden rankings started to go down, down, down.
So why does that happen?
Well, John had four answers, and I want to share them with you today because they totally make sense. The first thing he said was that rankings are temporary, that the web is dynamic and things are changing all the time.
So no one don’t get used to being in number one and number two, number three, or whatever position you’re at. Things are dynamic.
The number two reason is that going back to the first one, things are dynamic. But I was only talking about your website. Now your competitors as well, their website, their rankings and what they’re doing are also dynamic. So it’s not only what you’re doing, it’s what your competitors are doing as well.
And number three, Google is constantly making changes. So now we’ve got changes that you’re making to your website. Number two, changes that your competitors are making to their website. And three, Google algorithm is constantly changing.
And the last thing that John said from Google about why rankings fluctuate is people change. So first off, we had your website and what you do. Second, we had your competitors. Third, we had changes that Google makes and now forth just the general public.
People’s habits change. People’s habits change on what they search for when they search for what type of information they’re looking for. And when you combined all of these four factors, that’s why rankings fluctuate in a Google search.
So now you know the answer.
You got to kind of roll with the tide, see what happens, and just know that as you continue to do the best that you can, that’s really the only thing that you can do to help control the rankings of your website when it comes to Google.
