What I Learned at WordCamp Raleigh

This is your marketing minute from Forward Push and today I am coming to you from Raleigh, North Carolina. I’ve been here for the last couple days attending WordCamp Raleigh. And WordCamp is a conference where people from all over the world get together and they talk about everything that has to do with WordPress.
But there’s also a lot of conversations about business and how you run your business and what you do to make it a success. And yesterday, I sat in on a presentation by a woman who talked about giving just one percent to your business more everyday than you are currently doing and how by doing one percent of the same action everyday eventually creates a habit. And it sort of compounds on itself.
So your action today, tomorrow, the next day and going forward, it’s all stacking upon each other and eventually creating a massive change within your business. Now she realized that all of us can’t just overnight change. So she was saying by adding just one percent creates the difference.
And she gave this great example about flossing your teeth. Now I am sure that you have heard from your dentist and everywhere else that you need to be flossing your teeth. And the fact is that most of us do not do it. So why not start with just flossing one tooth? One tooth today, two tomorrow, three the next day, and before you know it, you will be on a flossing habit of your entire mouth. Now the same thing can be applied to your business. Maybe you want to start creating blog articles for your website and it seems like a very daunting task.
So start small, maybe it’s just a couple paragraphs today, then tomorrow, maybe it is a few more paragraphs. And before you know it, you’ll have a full fledged blog article that you can post to your website. And if you do this for other things within your business and it could be something like hey, I wanna make sure that I get all of my receipts in so my accountant can file my taxes properly.
Well, maybe it’s every other day you start putting in your receipts or once a week, whatever works for you but making these small one percent changes practically guarantees that you will be able to transform your business into something that it is not currently today.
