Forward Push’s Work For Jonathan Cohen Studios’ Website Recognized By Elite Group Of Judges
For more than 20 years, the Communicator Awards have recognized the best of the best in marketing and communications. We’re proud to say that we’ve taken home two Communicator Awards as judged by a select group of top-tier professionals curated by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA). Considering that the Communicator Awards receive more than 6,000 entries each year, to win an award — let alone two — is a huge honor that speaks to the quality and talent of the Forward Push team.
It’s somewhat appropriate that the two awards — Award of Distinction: Websites — Fashion and Award of Distinction: Websites — Visual Appeal — involve one of the most dynamic emerging talents in fashion. Jonathan Cohen Studio was founded in 2011 after attending Parsons School of Design in New York. His work was influenced by such fashion icons as Ashleigh Verrier, Oscar de la Renta, Patricia Field and Doo.Ri Chung. When it came time to launch his Fall 2014 Collection, Jonathan knew he needed a website that communicated his brand and aesthetic while offering an intuitive interface and e-commerce abilities.
Website Design That Matches Branding
Forward Push took inspiration from Jonathan’s “Dripping Dots” Fall 2014 collection dresses to create the award-winning website. For standard screen sizes, the site opens with an elegant animation of dripping ink dots to match the collection’s aesthetic. Once the animation completes, a clean and simple layout using modern fonts and a stark color scheme allow the user to focus on the content. In this case, the heart of that content involves various fashion collections using a horizontal scroll.
The site meets the latest web standards in mobile-friendly functionality. The Home animation is exchanged for a static image of the dripping dots to ensure fast loading times. The menu consolidates into single-button access pinned to the top, and the collection scrolling functions vertically rather than horizontally.
Most importantly, both desktop and mobile versions supported secure ecommerce functionality, allowing users to directly purchase dresses from anywhere in the world rather than the exclusive brick-and-mortar inventories in California, Idaho, Massachusetts, Michigan, Texas, and Utah.
Judges from Disney, MTV Networks, Wired and Sotheby’s Agree
We submitted the website for Jonathan Cohen Studios for recognition in the categories of Fashion and Visual Appeal based on Jonathan’s industry and the striking-but-minimalist aesthetic of the site. The judges, consisting of executives from organizations including Disney, MTV Networks, Pitney Bowes, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Wired, and Big Spaceship, use a standard of excellence in marketing and communications based on a 100 point scale. By winning an Award of Distinction, the judges have collectively deemed that Jonathan Cohen Studios’ site by Forward Push is among the select few that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement.
Collaboration is a key part of any marketing project, but in the case of a website, it’s absolutely critical. Because the website is the heart of any company’s marketing strategy, it must visually identify with the company’s brand strategy while meeting all technical and functional modern standards. When it works, the results are truly stunning, and in the case of Jonathan Cohen Studios, the results were stunning enough to win awards. By the time next year’s Communicator Awards come around, we’ll have more work from our portfolio to share. With a little luck, we’ll be telling you about more awards this time next year.
