What is the ROI of SEO?

How To Get ROI From Your SEO

Transcript from the video:

This is Your Marketing Minute from Forward Push, and today I wanted to talk to you about the ROI, return on investment, of SEO, search engine optimization. Alot of times I will hear clients or our prospects asked me, I know you’re recommending SEO for us.

I understand what it is. You’re going to be writing some blog articles. We’re going to be making some videos. We’re going to get links from other places and all these other things that fall under SEO. But what’s the return on my investment? What am I going to get back for doing all these things? Well, that is such a great question.

And one of the ways to find that answer is by taking one single keyword and determining the ROI of that. And that’s what we’re going to do today. So let’s start with the keyword phrase, personal injury attorney, San Francisco. And we rank number one for that term. And let’s say that there are 2,000 people every month that search for that exact term.

Now, we also know that there are other variations that people search for along those lines. And we’re going to say that there are 3,700 other searches a month on variations of our keyword that we’re using here. Personal injury attorney, San Francisco.

Alright. So we’ve got our keyword and we know that we’re in position one.

We also know that the click-through rate is around 29% for position one in a Google search with a click-through rate of around 29%. We should get 595 qualified people to our website based on that position. One keyword. Now we’re going to start diving into the math. So we’ve got 595 people coming to our website. And we’re going to say that our website converts at 1%. If we’re converting at one percent, we should have a new customer every 5 days or 71 new clients every year.

Now, when you incorporate all those variations, we’re going to get a lot more customers and clients. And if we were to rank number 1 for half of those variations, we would see an additional 66 clients per year. So there we go. We’ve got 71 clients from the first. We’ve got 66 clients from the variation that equals 137 new clients every year. I don’t know about you, but I would certainly take 137 new clients every single year from my search engine optimization efforts.

And that’s how you can figure out the ROI of your SEO. This has been Your Marketing Minute.
