This is Your Marketing Minute from Forward Push, and today I wanted to talk about email marketing.
Yeah, I know you’re probably thinking email is dead, but you know what?
We’re all still getting it. In fact, in 2019, 293 billion emails, we’re sent every single day.
And in 2022, that number is expected to go up to 347 billion emails!
So if it’s something we all hate, why are people still sending emails? And as a marketer, how can you take advantage of this growing and growing and growing popularity of filling up your inbox?
Well, let’s talk about some good facts about email marketing.
Even though some people say, oh, I hate email marketing, my inbox is always full, I never read them. Well, stats have shown that for every dollar that you put into email marketing, your business will receive $42 dollars back.
So every $1 equals $42. Not a bad deal.
Here’s another cool fact about email. Marketing is the open rate is roughly about 20% across the board. Not really crazy numbers. But you know what? At the end of the day, I’ll take that 20% and you need to hedge your bet if you personalize your email – so in the subject, putting that person’s name or in the email, putting that person’s name
in the salutation, you will get a 50% higher open rate – two little tricks that you can do.
Personalize your emails.
And the last thing that I like about email marketing is make sure you include a video in your email. Emails with video have shown to increase the click through rate by 300%.
So there you go. Those are 4 tips on why email marketing is great.
And now you know that, you’ve got to grow your email newsletter list.
Let’s take a look at things you can do to grow that email newsletter list.
Number 1, add a link in your signature. You’re sending emails. Get people to click on a link to sign up for your email newsletter.
Number 2, if you’ve got forms on your website, include a box for people to check off, to opt in, to be included in your e-mail newsletter.
And number 3, when you’re speaking to someone, just ask them, hey, would you like to join my email newsletter list and tell them what they’re going to receive.
Number 4, add a link on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, anywhere where you have an online profile that you can put a link, give people a call to action to join your list.
And lastly, the number 5 thing that you can do to grow your email newsletter list is create a text to join. So there’s plenty of programs out there that will allow you to get
your very own shortcode. You give that to people, when they send a text to it, they automatically can join your email newsletter.
So there you go, 5 things that you can do to grow your email newsletter list, a couple of facts on why email marketing is still great in 2020 and what we can expect over the next couple of years.
