Instagram is Leading the Way

This is Your Marketing Minute from Forward Push, and eMarketer has just released some new data about the top three social media networks and the time that people are spending on them. So we’ve got Facebook, we’ve got Instagram, and we’ve got Snapchat, the big three.

eMarketer is saying that on Facebook time spent on the platform is going down in 2019 from figures that were released earlier last year. So less people are spending less time on Facebook.

Second up we’ve got Instagram, which is doing the exact opposite of Facebook. People are spending at least one minute or more on Instagram, and eMarketer expects this trend to continue into 2021.

And of the big three, last we’ve got Snapchat. Snapchat is sort of just doing the opposite of Facebook and doing the opposite of Instagram. It has plateaued.

They aren’t seeing any more people joining. They aren’t seeing people spending more time on it. So Snapchat is sorta just hanging out there and continuing to do exactly what it does.

So, there’s a good chance that your prospects and your customers are either using one or all of these social media profiles, so I believe that it’s a good idea to figure out which one they’re on and then participate actively in the channel of choice where your customers and prospects are.
