After Your Website is Built, Do You Need To Update It?

Have You Done These 4 Things to Get Your Site Found?

This is Your Marketing Minute from Forward Push, and today I wanted to answer the question now that I have a website, it’s live, do I need to update it? Let’s take a look at that answer. And the answer is, yes, you do, if you’re hoping to be found on the Internet by people that want to purchase your services or the items you’re selling, you need to continually build out your website. And today, I’m going to go over 4 things that you can add to your website now that it’s up and ready to go.

The first thing that you can add are blog articles. Let people know what an expert you are and whatever you do, blog articles can answer the questions that people are looking for answers on the Internet. Blog articles can be interviews of your clients or your customers. Blog articles can be anything that you want them to be. You just need to be sure that they are valuable, educational and serve what your customers or your clients are looking for.

The number 2 thing that you can add to your website now that it’s up and running are videos. Videos are so easy to do nowadays. We’ve all got cameras in our pockets, in our purses. They have a video camera, right there installed, hold it up, do a selfie video or get a tripod and put it on front of your desk. Take videos of yourself talking just like I’m doing here. If you’re watching the video episode of Your Marketing Minute, people love watching people talk, especially when you are sharing great information. Once you’ve got your video captured, you can upload it to your own branded YouTube channel.

You can embed that on your website. You can use it on Facebook. Video is a great thing to add to your website. The third thing that you can add to your website, his audio. Podcast recordings, very easy to do nowadays. There’s even some apps out there that you can record your own podcast episode right on your phone, upload it to a service and it will distribute it for you. You can also go the route of working with a marketing agency who will produce the podcast for you, making sure that it sounds good, has music, has an opening and closing intro.

Those are all things that you can do when you have a podcast. Once you have that audio file, you can add that to your website. Again, more content for people to engage, to find out what you’re all about, what your store is all about, what exactly you do. You can do that through a podcast.

The fourth thing that you can have on your website to make sure that you are building it out and it’s becoming a better and better website is downloadable guides, PDF, e-books, anything that someone can go ahead and submit their email address to you so you can build up your mailing list and in return they will get a PDF asset from you. This is great content. It shows off that you’re an expert and also gives the opportunity for someone to engage with your content so that they can see what an expert you are.

So those are the 4 things that you can add to your website to continue to make it a great website. And here’s a pro tip. Once you start adding to the website, check your analytics, see what’s working. Are people listening to your podcast? Are they downloading your e-books? Are they engaging with your content? Find out what’s working, continue that. Find out what’s not working and discontinue it that way. You know that you are going in the right direction.
