This week we had a chance to hear Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo speak at the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco.

As part of the talk, he shared the three main points of his “Twitter Management School,” a six hour class he teaches to Twitter managers split into two three hour sessions.

Here they are:

  1. Instead of saying “go do this or that,” give clear direction and set defined metrics.
  2. Give and get feedback. Make sure everyone has a clear understanding of what has been said and what is expected. Remember, you can’t communicate if you don’t listen.
  3. Always be improving your team.
