The Importance of Creating a Strong Brand
Inked Well, a San Francisco tattoo care company has debuted their new website to coincide with the release of two new products.
Inked Well is a 100% vegan, animal-free, all-natural, organic oil or lotion that can be used on your new or existing tattoo. Reggie Wise, owner of Inked Well and designer of the product, started out creating the lotion when he couldn’t find one that met his needs. You might find this hard to believe in a market that is very crowded with lotions, creams, and oils in every drug store across the country.
While that is true, Wise and the Inked Well team wanted to give those purchasing their aftercare products at a tattoo shop the option for a no-filler, high quality product.
In order to stand out from the crowd, Forward Push Media was tasked with creating a new brand that didn’t look like everything else available to the tattooed consumer. Instead of using the overplayed dark reds, blues, and greens, Forward Push Media created a color palate that incorporated what a consumer would expect from a tattoo care product but used softer versions of them.
The logo plays to Inked Well’s San Francisco roots with a hint of the Barbary Coast and a eye towards craftsmanship. The new website design allows users to discover the product while being introduced to others that endorse it’s use.
Establishing Inked Well among the bigger companies in the aftercare space has been challenging, but the Inked Well team has had great success working trade shows catering to tattoo enthusiasts. Forward Push Media created a text messaging short code for the brand, which allowed fans to sign up for their newsletter via a smartphone. In addition, samples were given away attached to a two-sided collateral postcard.
By creating a striking logo, a website that speaks to the target consumer, and a strategy that allows the brand to pick up fans, Forward Push Media has helped Inked Well stand above the rest of the tattoo aftercare market.
