Free Wi-Fi from Facebook When You Check In
Facebook and Cisco launched a new national partnership this week that will bring free Wi-Fi to retail locations. Under the name CMX for Facebook Wi-Fi, when a user checks in on the social network, it will automatically unlock access to the participating business’ Wi-Fi network. This is great way for businesses to offer a handy free service to their customers, encourages social action through a Check In, and allows the business to see high-level customer demographics such as age, gender, and hometown.

Is it Time for Wearable Technology?
On Device Research and telecoms analyst firm CSS Insight have released the findings of a recent survey showing that many people have heard of smartwatches and other wearable technologies, but ownership is fairly low.
“We are surprised by how many people are aware of wearable technology,” On Device Research marketing manager Siim Teller said in a statement. “Sixty-five percent of respondents had heard of smart watches and over 50 percent knew about wearable fitness trackers. Nearly half of those surveyed in the US had heard about Google Glass. This is very high for a product that isn’t even commercially available at the moment.”
Interestingly enough, the study also showed that 40 percent of smartwatch owners stop using them because they forget or get bored with the technology.
