Call it the The Corporate States of America

That’s what Steve Lovelace says it is when he selected a corporation or brand he felt best represented each of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. Brands were chosen subjectively and had to be based in that state and still in business as of 2012. The map was created after Lovelace wrote an article about corporate feudalism which outlined his hypothesis that as corporations grow in power, the power of states will become irrelevant.

Take a look at the map. Here in San Francisco, California, we’re thinking Facebook or Twitter instead of Apple. Did Lovelace get it right for your state?
